The Media and Obama are telling us we are well in to recovery, but I disagree:
People are giving way to much credit to this recovery. The poor are poorer, the rich are richer and the Middle Class is smaller. I don't blame Obama for this. I blame them all. Yes, the stock market is higher, but it mostly benefits the well off. No, the national debt is not down, the GDP is up, which has no impact on the debt unless we pay it, rather than spend it. Are there some new jobs, yes, but they are low paying and wages remain stagnant. Most of us are still struggling with nearly everything seeming more expensive and we are making less money, at least compared to the cost of living.
The economic crash was well under way when Obama took office, however both parties allowed the banks to get to the point of wreaking havoc on the economy. Obama flew home from the campaign trail to stand by Bush's side and provide assistance for the banks. He created the "Shovel Ready Jobs", which didn't make the impact we wanted. Obama and his team over saw the crisis and determined how to spend the Billions of dollars which were pumped into the economy. Those dollars went to Banker's bonuses, banker mergers, etc. Was it his fault? No both parties approved the funding they used to do this. I don't see how either side can point fingers, when just last month, Omnibus passed full of pork from both sides, and with Obama urging the Congress to pass it.
The wars go on and on. I know Obama has said we are out, but we are still sending small amounts of troops and large amounts of financial aid to many areas in the Middle East. The media is preparing us for more wars every day. Why do we enable the rest of the West to barely spend on their own defense instead of looking to us? France should go ahead and declare war on terror, and support it. Etc. Etc.
America is at war with ourselves as well. The Media spins hate on Black, White, Religions, Politics, Cops, Rich, Poor. While we fight corporations pay our politicians to pass laws which benefit them not the average person.
I blame the election process which is funded by the rich and continues to allow more not less corporate money into the system. Each one of "us" only has a vote. Corporations can buy PR to raise someone up or take someone down, they can buy millions of votes. I feel like nobody in politics can afford to "Be on Our Side".
Thus we can't look to the 2 party system to save us. We have to vote with dollars and quit fighting between left and right to get corporations out of government.
